Displeased with the rising number of deaths resulting from the fashionable practice of dueling, Scottish Fencing Master Sir William Hope created A New Shorter Method of Self-Defense. Hope's “new” system, based upon contemporary German techniques, focused heavily on defensive strategies, imploring students to attack only if and when it was absolutely necessary.
In this three hour seminar Instructors Peter Haas and Kat Hamilton of Kollektiv des Messerfectens provide a well rounded introduction to Sir Hope’s New Method, and the art of dueling.
